Sunshine Coast summer things to do and places to see
The Sunshine Coast comes alive for summer and Coolum is at the heart of it all. Here is Coolum at the Beach’s list of local summer highlights.
When the mercury rises, combine a cooling summer swim with a unique Coolum experience at Blast Aqua Park Coolum. Set on a massive man-made freshwater lake, and boasting an extensive inflatable obstacle course of slides, jumping pillows, trampolines, balance beams and wobble pads, the park delivers family fun for everyone. Visitors looking to stay dry can still get close to the action, with a tour of the floating walking tracks or a comfortable seat on a sun lounge. The fantastic array of shaded areas, barbecue areas and picnic benches make the ideal setting for a relaxing lunch, and guests are welcome to bring their own food (no alcohol).
Blast Aqua Park is located at 60 Junction Drive, Coolum … just a short drive from your Coolum at the Beach accommodation.
Set the scene for a spectacular summer's day with an early morning or late afternoon climb up beautiful Mount Coolum. Just nine minutes drive from your Coolum accommodation, Mount Coolum is an ancient volcanic laccolith, formed millions of years ago by a bulge of magma. Today, it is the setting of an extremely popular climb, renowned for its stunning 360 degree views spanning over breath taking coastlines to Mudjimba Island, north to Noosa and south towards Mooloolaba. With a summit of 208m above sea level, the 1.6km walk is recommended for fit walkers and is popular with families. During summer, it is important to climb only during the cooler parts of the day and in fine weather.
More than just a market, Salty Saturdays is an event for locals and visitors to come together and celebrate Coolum culture and community. Held on the second and fourth Saturday of each month with live music, free entertainment and delicious food. Find them just a couple of minute's walk away from Coolum at the Beach in Jack Morgan Park near the Coolum Library and Civic Centre.
